Plate G5.no1: Twin Tree Glen Fruin (Scotland)
This picture is a cheat – it’s been cropped from another (no.4 in this gallery: TREES). I like both – but after taking the picture I noticed something unusual about this tree……
I hope I can be forgiven the exploitation of making two from one, but if I may: I’ve always believed two can become one, or indeed, as Pete Townshend said: “One and one don’t make two; one and one make one”. I have many memories of holding the hands of my children; but I remember one particular occasion, holding my son’s hand and being so acutely aware: there was no gap whatsoever between us.
He died; the pain consequent, indescribable – but I’d take that pain a million times over, for that brief touch – and I’d call that a bargain…
