Plate G5.no3: Trees at Dawn – Helensburgh (West coast of Scotland)
I missed my train on account of this picture. I can’t say I’m complaining – it was one of those mornings, when dawn did that thing it does from time to time: removing one’s breath and leaving one feeling blessed to be alive.
Conveniently, these trees seemed determined to capture the moment. I’ve passed them many times, before and since, and not once has their siting seemed more relevant than it did on that particular morning. I had to stop, and be witness to a ritual, clearly of significance, though the specific meaning of which confounds me still. It must have had something to do with time, surely, and of infinitely greater relevance than anything contained in a train timetable, despite its transparent emphasis on anything but.
