Plate G8.no2: The Great Wall of China*

The manipulation of this photograph is deliberate – in order to try and capture those qualities of the Great Wall that make prescient demand upon one: of its history and its romance.
In truth the walls historical legacy is brutal, and hardly romantic – but China has always held a mystery to me, as being a place of exotic origins. I could not capture that spirit without the manipulation – for in truth what I imagined was not quite so, in reality………and yet, as I reflect now upon the experience, my recollections are clouded by the mystery, the romance, and the wonder that is the Great Wall of China.
