Plate G2.no17: The ‘Fairy Pools’ (Skye [Scotland])
This picture always reminds me of one thing. Truth.
It was the first photograph that I edited substantially. The original is almost un-recognisable. It’s also of the Fairy Pools, their touristic and cultural significance being ‘nonsense’ according to a local. They had always been there, apparently, hidden in some trees, and hardly deserving of the popular adoration now being foisted upon them.
True? I couldn’t say. But as for the photograph, I can – it’s true, that it has been manipulated, and equally true, that the image captures better the mood of the place, manipulated than ever did the original.
