Plate G6.no10: The Cobbler 6 – March 2017 – Misty for Me

I climbed the Cobbler six times over a period of approximately 18 months. No two ascents were the same – such is the nature of Scottish weather!
A couple of ascents were glorious – as in, the traditional familiar sense of the word: blistering sunshine and blue skies. Others were brutal – one in particular, I remember, being battered by driving rain and sleet (and it was summertime…).
On this occasion, mist prevailed. If this had been my only ascent, it would have been regrettable – the view down Loch Long is stunning; it was non-existent this day. Nevertheless, the promontory looked even more remarkable, projecting as it did un-phased by the inclemency.
Such is my enduring memory of the Cobbler – of persistence, proud and robust regardless of anything. Even emptiness.
