Plate G6.no2: The Cobbler 2 – May 2016 – Cross Winds
I call this: ‘Scotland’s Redeemer’.
I’ve seen the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro. It’s impressive – but, given a choice, I’d sooner be atop the Cobbler. No offence – I’m simply more at home in Scotland.
But why so? I have no legitimate affinity for Scotland’s landscape – I’m a (Glasgow) city boy, and always have been – but I’ve never felt I belong to Glasgow; whereas, despite my urban origins, I cannot deny the ease with which my soul abides in the Scottish landscape.
Doubtless, something in my DNA makes it so, though I don’t need to cite science to justify ‘belonging’. Scotland is my home – and the redeemer who stood upon the Cobbler pinnacle and held wide his arms epitomised my feelings for my homeland: iteratively embraced……
