Plate G8.no3: Take 5: The Great Wall of China*

This is an especially poignant picture for me. It was on the second or third day of the trek – I can’t recall exactly when. Regardless, at the end of the day we arrived at this location. Our guide invited us, my fellow trekkers and me, to sit on this ruined base of a watchtower, to face outwards – and to take five minutes, to sit in silence and reflect upon why we were there.
Tears well up, even now, at the thought – and I suspect they always shall. Grief may change, but it never ends; nor does the love one holds for one’s child.*Further comment can be found in:
