Plate G10.no8: Strata on the Hidden Canyon Trail – Zion National Park Utah (USA)*

This picture looks faked; it looks creased, as if quartered, and folded. But it’s not – this is exactly as these rocks appeared. Hard to believe – but then again, maybe not. Just because something has characteristics of the ‘now’, that doesn’t mean those characteristics were the same ‘then’. As every architect knows: concrete begins life as a liquid……
So it appears here – that the formation these rocks involved fluidity processes, of some sort or another. And the result – is simply captivating……I’m sure it’s not difficult to acknowledge the feeling that persisted on this trek, that the rocks were living, breathing entities, and only static in our presence…
