Plate G7.no18: Standing Stone Circle – Skyre (Scotland)
Stone circles always provoke a sadness in me – for times gone by.
I cannot help but be awed, thinking of a time when time was measured so – and the impetus to do so, a communal event. The act has been so diluted in our times – I can look at my watch any time I like; and if I ask someone the time, I’m doing so usually for such perfunctory reason. Time, measured in digits – has been so diluted, and become independent of that primal relationship.
Yet I suppose it’s all about grounding and securing one’s place in time – the difference being, that these standing stones secured one’s place in place at the same time…and for everyone…
What a time they must have had…
