Plate G1.no20: Grand Central Terminal (1913), New York (USA)

There is an iconic B+W image of Grand Central Terminal: the one with sunlight streaming dramatically through those distinctive arched openings? I can conjure instantly the image in my mind, as I can of many other iconic images.
One could easily despair that one’s own photographs do not match those that one so admires. I am thankful however that I’ve never felt unduly hindered by such thoughts. I might, as it is certainly my nature where other creative activities have been concerned. Not so however photography. I appreciate my photographs do not merit that self-same accord of: ‘classic’ – but this bothers me not one jot; I like taking pictures……
Inevitably though, the iconic precedent can implicitly impact appreciation. It took a while to appreciate my liking of this picture……
