Plate G1.no21: Falling Water House (1935), Pennsylvania (USA) by Frank Lloyd Wright

Is this the best house in the world? It would doubtless be a populist contender – it’s Frank Lloyd Wright after all, and many would surely subscribe to the proposition that it’s his best building.
But my assessment is not influenced by enforced reverence of the author. If anything, it runs counter and is made in defiance of such adulation. Rather, it is based on personal experience – I’ve seen the building three times. I admit, the first time my evaluation was coloured purely by awe. My second visit: by due appreciation. But on my third visit: by comprehension. The place would be diminished without its presence, surely an unsurpassable accolade. More so, however being overcome by its perfection my grief impaired senses were resurrected.
This, therefore, is my best house……
