Some things one sees, one never can forget. Like the Guggenheim for example……
I cannot recall when exactly I became aware of this building. I can however, state with confidence that I had only to see it once for its iconic form to register, intransigent. Like Ronchamp, buildings of such uniqueness cannot help but make a dynamic first impression. Often, awe infused: for something special is clearly happening here – as is the case with the Guggenheim. It was intended as a “temple of the spirit”; to call it a museum is, indeed, too reductive by far.
I have visited the building several times. On which occasion this picture was taken I cannot remember – but it definitely wasn’t the first time; I was too awed then, to focus.
