Dead End: Huangyaguan Compound (China)*

A curious place, the Huangyaguan compound. Allegedly, in the distant past there was a slaughter here, the compound was attacked but the invaders got lost, being confounded by the compounds’ dead ends and numerous corners. Trapped, they were wiped out, all 5000 of them.
It was hard to acknowledge the horror of that occasion – the place was resplendent with moon gates and placid gardens……but yes, there were too, many corners……*Further comment can be found in:
