Plate G4.no12: After the Fire: GSA Reid Building (Glasgow)

Some buildings imprint themselves on one’s existence, as significant a relationship as one might have with a person; more so, even.
Such is the case, with the Glasgow School of Art. To say I love this building is accurate – there is no need to qualify the statement.
To see it burn, then……in truth, I did not look; I have barely visited since, its remains. I have simply turned my head away and await the mourning – and in the meantime, as to the proposition that it be ‘re-built’, I can only shudder at such a ghastly initiative.
For I will never see this love again, it has died – and I would that the city did not engage in what is so often the case when a death occurs: denial.
