Plate G7.no8: Hadrian’s Wall – Cumbria (England)*
I just love this photograph. It was taken whilst trekking Hadrian’s Wall in Cumbria, England.
I think the affection comes partly from the composition, which caught for me certain qualities of trekking the wall that I had not foreseen (and maybe the Romans hadn’t either…) It’s not so straight as I imagined, and it undulates, much, much more than anticipated, that’s for sure!
But more so, I think because the taking of it was an accident, and an accident twice over. I didn’t take the picture with any great intention, so I didn’t notice the clouds, nor the people (which is crazy, as I always love getting people into my photographs); and I hit on the blue manipulation completely by accident too.
Happy accidents…
