Plate G6.no.4: The Cobbler 4 – September 2016 – Lovers Peak
On this fourth occasion climbing the Cobbler, a couple were huddled together at the summit. I didn’t actually notice they were there when I took this photograph. It was only later when sifting through my photographs that I spotted them.
Don’t they ‘make’ the picture? Something about their pose, distinguishable even in silhouette infers somehow a loving intimacy – a palliative against such a darkly brooding setting.
I seem to have been lucky: many times, on ascents someone at the peak has done something which ‘makes’ the picture, an act often at odds with the place…. and never more so than on this occasion.
