It’s a guide really, for who can really say there are rules in creative acts. Nevertheless, I sweated over the composition of this picture, re that particular rule.
When taken, I positioned the tree, instinctively, off centre, and to the left – but originally there was considerably more picture to the right, of nothing really. No feature to warrant inclusion – hence, I began cropping – and I wonder yet if I got it right. Not because I satisfied the rule, but whether I retained enough of the emptiness. Because that was what caught my attention, of this tree, so blessedly highlighted yet exposed, and alone…
