Plate G4.no16: Mitchell Lane I (Glasgow)

This is the first of three pictures of Mitchell Lane. I don’t have any particular fetish for this lane, it features more so than any other aspect of Glasgow simply because it became the focus of much of my architectural studies. I completed measured drawings of Charles Rennie Mackintoshs Glasgow Herald building (which is located at the other end of the lane from this picture) for my dissertation, and I used the lane as the location for my final year thesis design.
So, I ended up spending a lot of time here……which is no bad thing, as it has another architectural gem as well as the Mackintosh building: the BOAC Building by Gillespie Kidd and Coia architects. (That’s it on the right.) It may not look special…but it is…
