Plate G4.no6: Panorama: Glasgow Modernism x 3 (Glasgow)

I like to imagine buildings being characters; as living things. In this flight of fancy, often the building stands alone – a singular individual. But sometimes one comes across buildings that are not so definitively independent, but related, like a family – as is the case here. The three family members, father, mother and child, are the original buildings designed by Wylie Shanks Architects, built in 1963 (a good year……), forming the conglomerate of buildings associated with the (then) Stow College: including the College of Building and Printing and the Charles Oakley Building.
Once a modern family, they are now abandoned – and appear to being left to rot; but that’s Glasgow for you. It has a knack of treating its worth, so unworthily, with ignorance where adoration should prevail.
