Plate G3.no13: Panama City (Panama)
I have a regret, and a wish fulfilled as the abiding memories of my visit to Panama.
My wish fulfilled was not my wish but that of my fathers. Being a civil engineer, he had always wanted to see the Panama Canal; he never did. I took some of his ashes and scattered them beside the Canal, one dusky evening, having listened earlier to a learned colleague describe the times he had met Gabriel Garcia Marquez. My father had been an avid reader, and fan of Marquez. It was therefore an imbued, beautiful, and truly perfect moment.
I think my father would have admired too, the road from which this picture was taken. It seemed to have been built on nothing……
As for my regret? I never purchased a hat……
