Plate G2.no22: Loch Coire nam Mang (nr Kinbrace [Scotland])

If ever I want to think about being exhausted, I can always look at this picture.
I hadn’t walked for a while, the day I headed out to this place. My intention had been to climb the first hill on the right. I never made it – shame, because apparently it has the remains of one of the oldest forts in Scotland. To get there I had to skirt round two land-locked lochs. This is the first. I got round it, and halfway round the second, but I had to give up. I was stumbling constantly through heather, and bog; I can’t remember how many times I sank up to my knees.
I should have taken the boat……but I’m not complaining – just describing……and anyway, no day walking is ever bad……
