Plate G2.no15: Wall and Stile near Hadrian’s Wall (Cumbria [England])

This picture was taken on my fifth of six treks undertaken between 2016 and 2018, along Hadrian’s Wall in Cumbria, England.*
The wall is not actually part of Hadrian’s Wall – rather, it is one of many stone walls that persist in the area, demarcating farms (presumably).
Something I found rather interesting on this trek was the unseen influence Hadrian’s Wall. Its unremitting linearity has clearly affected the organisation of subsequent land delineation. Much of it has been set out perpendicular to Hadrian’s Wall.
Consequently, when one treks the line of Hadrian Wall, one is forever clambering over stiles. I didn’t see that coming……
